The Letter is a 'visual novel' along the lines of 'Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors' (999) and Danganronpa in which you play seven characters in seven different chapters where you discover a story full of horror – but also friendship, love, and drama.
The game system in The Letter is standard for the genre: you've basically got to read and make choices. Where you end up in the story depends on the actions you take throughout each of the chapters. Sometimes you've got to complete "quick time events" to come out victorious. But luckily in the game options you can increase or decrease the difficulty of these QTEs, or deactivate them entirely.
One of the most attention-grabbing elements about The Letter is the quality of its production value. The game is fully dubbed in English, and has hi-res animated backgrounds, a spectacular original soundtrack, and high-quality anime character design. Best of all is that you can play the full first chapter without viewing a single ad.
The Letter is an outstanding visual novel with a thrilling story and a charismatic and interesting cast of characters. The game also lets you save the game at various different stop-points, so you can experiment with making different decisions at different critical junctures of the story.
